Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Electrical Technology Program) position in the Industrial & Transportation Technology department of the Academic & Student Affairs division. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.

Under the general supervision of the Dean of Industrial & Transportation Technologies, the Adjunct Instructor (Electrical Technology Program) position requires passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching, learning and advisement of a diverse student population.

Job duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Under general supervision, it demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping.
  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate technical knowledge in teaching electrical technology subject areas such as residential and commercial wiring, pipe-bending, fundamentals of AC and DC current, etc.
  • Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills.
  • Follows approved course syllabi.
  • Monitors students’ use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student assigned to advise.
  • Establishes and ensures adherence to health and safety requirements in assigned classrooms and laboratories.
  • Attend meetings as required and appropriate.
  • Observes and enforces the institution's policies and regulations.
  • Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College system of Georgia Policy Manual.
  • Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution; and
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Must be a Licensed Electrician in the State of Georgia.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Electrical technology from an accredited private or public postsecondary institution; or other Electrical certification (preferred)
  • Five (5) or more years of proven residential and commercial wiring, pipe-bending, fundamentals of AC and DC current work experience in various phases of the electrical industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of residential and commercial wiring, pipe-bending, fundamentals of AC and DC current techniques.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse, adult learners.
  • May be required to teach at other locations and other

locations within the community. ***
