This Director will lead several large-scale platform engineering initiatives for Schwab’s retail platforms (Schwab.com and mobile) in addition to developing cross enterprise services and shared capabilities. The role focuses on building scalable, and resilient cloud native platform components that enable 30+ scrum teams to deliver client experiences with speed to market and architectural consistency.

The Director role will collaborate with other product and technology teams, as well as lead an engineering org with a client-focused mindset, responsible for developing frameworks, platform components, and templates that are consistent with Schwab's architectural standards.

An ideal candidate must have a solid background in cloud-native distributed architecture leading a team of architects, platform engineers and team leads with a flair for solving business problems with technology. A key focus for this role will also be to enable the public cloud transformation of Schwab's retail web platforms.

This leader will be based in Southlake, TX.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field is required.
• 10+ years of direct people leadership experience (team members report directly to you, you are responsible for performance appraisals, hiring etc.) over organizations of at least 25 members
• 10+ years of Director level software development management experience with at least 3 years focused on cloud technologies
• 5+ years’ experience running complex projects in a large enterprise environment
• Experience being a hands-on Cloud architect with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or one of the other major Cloud providers
• Proficient in cloud native and distributed architecture patterns to develop highly available, scalable and resilient software conforming to 12 Factor design principles.
• Technical professional experience building scalable enterprise applications with high availability and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in distributed architecture patterns, SOLID principles, BDD and TDD development practices
• Currently in a Director level role
• Proven expertise in working across cross-functional and cross-platforms teams driving developer experience initiatives
• Financial Industry experience (plus)
