Data Engineer - Azure Data Factory Specialist

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria (Hybrid Work Model)

As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing our data solutions within the Azure ecosystem. You will be instrumental in building efficient data integration and transformation workflows, collaborating closely with architects and development teams to ensure high-quality data delivery. Experience in Investment Banking Operations is a valuable asset that will help you thrive in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Implement and manage data storage solutions, primarily utilizing Azure Data Lake Store for optimal data retrieval and performance.
  • Work with Azure SQL DB to design and optimize database structures for analytical and operational needs.
  • Develop and maintain serverless functions using Azure Functions to support data processing, automation, and integration efforts.
  • Ensure data security and compliance by implementing best practices and utilizing services like Azure Key Vault for managing sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline data development processes, leveraging Azure DevOps for version control, CI/CD, and project management.
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve the performance of data pipelines and underlying systems to enhance operational efficiency and data quality.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications and actionable data solutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Stay updated with the latest Azure data technologies, tools, and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for data-related issues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with a strong focus on cloud data solutions.
  • Demonstrable expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF) for orchestrating and transforming data.
  • Proficiency with Azure Data Lake Store for efficient data storage and management.
  • Strong experience with Azure SQL DB for relational database design and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying Azure Functions.
  • Familiarity with Azure Key Vault for secure credential management.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for source control, build, and release pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling.
  • Experience in Investment Banking Operations is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving data-related challenges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse technical and business teams.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a hybrid work environment.
  • A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies and challenges.
