Senior Estimator - Pipeline Facilities (Multiple Locations)

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for performing FEL 1, 2 and 3 estimates, supporting and developing EPC and bid check estimates for pipeline facility projects (emphasis on renewable gas plants and compressor stations). This position will develop accurate bottoms up estimates in a credible and professional manner while minimizing risk to the company.

  • Develop factored and bottoms up FEL 1, 2 and 3 (conceptual, feasibility and budget authorization) estimates for pipeline facility projects, and in particular renewable gas plants and compressor stations.
  • Lead estimating strategy and implementation efforts.
  • Develop estimate schedules to manage workload and ensure timely completion of estimates
  • Review RFP and engineering documents for gaps and overlaps in scope of work.
  • Responsible for detail documentation of quantity take offs and constructability analysis.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.
  • Review project summary schedules for validity.
  • Support development of risk registers.
  • Responsible for compliance with estimating methodology ensuring quality estimates are produced.
  • Lead project team review for estimating quantities and scope of project.
  • Support subcontractor pre-qualification, solicitation and bid reviews.
  • Support review and verification of subcontractor bid packages before being transmitted for quotes.
  • Responsible for reviewing and incorporating specialty and standard equipment and material pricing.
  • Estimate general conditions, indirect costs and review with project management team.
  • Responsible for the review of final estimate and presentation to project management.
  • Present the estimate to internal and external clients.
  • Make recommendations as to contingency and escalation.
  • Provide man hour estimate for required estimating effort and review with Section Manager.
  • Review and validate value engineering items, alternates, and options.
  • Responsible for updating cost history and data base management.
  • Train and mentor staff.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field and 7 years of direct project estimating experience.
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expert with Microsoft Office, ConEst and K-base.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification Required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with InEight software.
  • Experience with Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Power EPC or construction contractors estimating or in the field experience.
  • Must be very familiar with factors that affect work productivity, be able to identify them and appropriately incorporate them into cost estimates
  • Ability to quickly learn estimating software.
