At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, is seeking to hire a Scheduling Coordinator in the Clinical Trials Unit.

The Scheduling Coordinator plays a key role in supporting clinical research studies by managing participant check-ins and scheduling appointments. This entry-level position ensures smooth and timely communication with study volunteers, assists in preparing for daily clinic operations, and provides general administrative support to the research team. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with participants in a professional and friendly manner.

Major Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in study participants at the clinic or reception desk.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel participant appointments as needed.
  • Monitor daily schedules, adjust based on staff availability and participant attendance, and maintain accurate records of no-shows and reschedules.
  • Open and close the clinic; calibrate equipment (lifting up to 50 lbs), stock supplies, and maintain a clean, welcoming environment.
  • Prepare clinic for daily activities, including refreshments and equipment readiness.
  • Build rapport with participants to support retention and engagement.
  • Handle reminder calls, participant inquiries, and direct communications to appropriate staff.
  • Provide front desk coverage as needed (e.g., during staff breaks or absences).
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, scheduling software).
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Comfortable interacting with diverse populations in a professional and respectful manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or some college coursework.
  • Prior experience in healthcare, research, or administrative setting.
  • Familiarity with clinical trials or medical terminology.
