Amazon Air has a unique role within Amazon. We have built a national air transportation network with 90 aircraft to deliver fast shipments to over long distances to Amazon Fulfillment customers, no matter where they live. We also serve an increasing number of external Air Cargo customers, both nationally and internationally.

The Amazon Air Speed and Yield Management is looking for an experienced, creative and strategically-minded Senior Business Intelligence who can help us understand how and where we can use our unique capabilities to deliver the greatest benefit to all of our customers. The person in this role will drive innovation within and beyond Amazon Air through actionable insights, advanced analytics, and strategic foresight.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus and perspective to drive strategy in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

Key job responsibilities

Data Analysis:

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights
  • Develop and implement statistical models and algorithms
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer business questions

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications
  • Present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences

Data Collection and Integration:

  • Gather data from various sources (databases, APIs, files, etc.)
  • Design and implement data integration processes
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across systems

Data Modeling and Optimization:

  • Write complex SQLs to convert raw data to meaningful metrics
  • Optimize SQLs for improved performance

Report and Dashboard Development:

  • Develop interactive visualizations to present data effectively

Data Governance and Security:

  • Ensure data security and compliance with regulations

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest BI tools and technologies
  • Automate processes where possible to increase efficiency

Documentation and Training:

  • Create and maintain documentation for data models, processes, and reports
  • Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and dashboards

Problem-solving:

  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies and technical issues
  • Develop solutions to complex data-related problems

Data Strategy:

  • Contribute to the organization's overall data strategy
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business value

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of professional or military experience
  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
  • Experience with AWS technologies
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
