Works as a technical resource, as part of the Customer and Juniper team, to provide Juniper solutions expertise in support of the customer's operational requirements. A Resident Engineering position is a highly technical role, providing post-sales support of Juniper’s Network Products. The Resident Consultant (RC) will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed or to be deployed within the Customer’s network.

The position is an on-site preferred position at the customer location in Redmond, WA; a remote location is considered

Job complexity

This is a technical role for a design consultant who will work on complex HIGH-IQ; Hyper-Scale network architectures, typically part of a diverse team, working to provide product-specific expert support of as per customer or engineering requirements. Qualified candidate will work closely with customer, Juniper Escalation and Juniper Engineering teams to resolve critical issues. And work with Juniper Engineering and Product Management groups in resolving network design and architecture issues. As well as certification testing design and implementation. You would be tasked with identifying, researching, and resolving diverse technical problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Assisting in the development and testing of new features and services. Exercising good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. While also providing Required Knowledge and Skills Transfer on Juniper products.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Works independently under general supervision.
  • May provide guidance and training to less experienced staff.
  • Receives technical direction from multiple contributors/teams.
  • Ability to exercise a degree of creativity and latitude, in a largely self-driven environment!

Professional Experience and Education:

The ideal candidate for this role must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Strong Junos skills EVO skills and understanding of broad product architectures
  • Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of IP routers. This includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers.
  • A detailed understanding of protocols surrounding IP service provider networks. These skills include but are not limited to:
  • TCP/IP and MPLS fundamentals
  • IP/Routing experience (OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, Segment Routing, Routing Policy)
  • Routing protocol operation, migration, and scaling mechanisms
  • Routing policies at BGP peering points
  • Hands-on configuration and operational knowledge of Juniper Networks Products
  • VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (MPLS, L3VPN, VPLS, MVPN.)
  • Ethernet switching and 802.1Q, QOS
  • Ability to work independently and to function in a team environment.
  • Exceptional customer interface and presentation skills

  • Case management and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Required Knowledge and Skills base management including documentation and updates.
  • Mentorship and Team Development junior staff and providing technical guidance.
  • Project support including planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Expertise in switching, routing, and software systems relevant to the role.
  • Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Has wide-ranging experience, product-specific knowledge, and expertise.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, system integration, and hyperscale cloud environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways!
  • Has third-party, multi-vendor, product operational experience in a geographically dispersed (global) network.

Other Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a technical support or consulting role.
  • M.S.C.S. or equivalent networking experience, JNCIE-SP, JNCIE-ENT, and JNCIE-Cloud
  • Strong influencing skills, design, consultation, and hands-on expertise directly related to customer operations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel as required by the project.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Minimum Salary: $131,648.00

Maximum Salary:$189,244.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $131,648.00 and $189,244.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper’s pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
