Linux System Administrator

We’re looking for a system administrator who specializes in Linux with skills in Linux FIPS mod, full disk encryption using LUKS, TANG, Clevis, VMWare, and Active Directory.

As a Linux system administrator on our team, you’ll ensure system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational policies. You'll perform security scans and resolve vulnerabilities. You'll be responsible for hardening Linux systems per requirements, including Operating System (OS) patching, software patching, and anti-virus software management. You'll assist in hardening Windows systems per requirements, to include Operating System (OS) patching, software patching, and anti-virus software management. You will be involved in installing and programming routers, firewalls and multi-layer network switches, including routing, and managing Access Control Lists. You’ll help clients overcome tough challenges through monitoring and performance management. Your knowledge will be vital as you identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical network. Your communication skills will come in handy as you turn metrics into information and articulate their meaning.

You Have:

  • Experience with Linux FIPS mode
  • Experience with full disk encryption using LUKS, Tang, or Clevis
  • Experience creating patch repositories and pushing out updates quarterly
  • Experience with Bash scripting, user profiles, and secure login policies
  • Experience with Active Directory authentication, such as SSSD, Realm, or Samba
  • Experience with Mounting NTFS and NFS drives
  • Experience with VMware Virtualization with Horizon View, such as thin client or Omnissa client, VMware VCenter administration, and Microsoft Active Directory administration
  • Experience with Secure Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), and OpenSCAP, STIG viewer
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • HS diploma or GED and 5+ years of experience in systems administration, or Associate's degree and 2+ years of experience in systems administration

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with installing, upgrading and administrating Red Hat Rocky, Ubuntu, and Real-Time Operating Systems, such as Redhawk or Red Hat RT
  • Experience with CUDA and Compute GPU installations
  • Bachelor's degree
  • DoD 8140/8570 IAT-I or IAT-II Baseline Certification, such as Network+ or Security+
  • Computing environment certification, such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHEL), Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHSA), Linux+, or Linux Professional Institute Certified (LPIC)

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
