We’re looking for a Senior SCADA Engineer located in Florida to execute exciting and challenging projects throughout the region. As a Senior SCADA Engineer, you will be involved in all parts of the projects, solving complex problems, taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions, identifying applications of functional knowledge, and applying existing methodologies to complex problems. You’ll work with the best Engineers and Project Managers in the business, as well as working directly with our clients. We want you to be empowered to deliver the boldest solutions for everyday living, leading functional teams or projects, and serving as a best practice, quality resource.

Each day, you will be an important part of the team as you complete a variety of engineering and programming responsibilities for the design and operation of SCADA systems for water and wastewater clients. You will work with minimal supervision, both independently and in a team environment, and multitask effectively.

The successful candidate will work as part of project teams to perform the following tasks:

  • Participate in all phases of project estimating, planning, execution, and closeout, consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget, and other specified requirements stated in the contract.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Complete the scope of work to the satisfaction of the client, while simultaneously ensuring Jacobs staff safety, product quality, project financial, risk management, business, and policy expectations are met.
  • Participate in business development activities resulting in the award of a contract. This could include client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, oral presentation, and contract negotiation consistent with established business development processes.
  • Be responsible for the development and execution of SCADA Master Plans.
  • Lead small project teams during start-up and commissioning activities.
  • Utilize PLC control systems, SCADA systems, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for large water/wastewater and industrial clients.
  • Provide engineering support for water, wastewater, municipal, and industrial clients for our regional offices and occasionally at client sites.
  • Design and troubleshoot ICS-related components, including PLCs, servers/workstations, control panels, field instruments, radios, industrial network switches, and firewalls.
  • Support, set up, analyze, and maintain ICS applications, including event logging, domain controllers, network behavior anomaly detection systems, Operational Technology (OT) networks, hyperconverged and traditional servers, and anti-virus software.
  • Prepare specifications, drawings, and control system process narratives.
  • Conduct site evaluations and make recommendations for control systems improvements and designs.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines on large, complex design projects to incorporate equipment, process, and facility control concepts.
  • Provide general supervision and mentoring to junior staff for the development of design drawings, specifications, instrumentation, and programming.
  • Travel as needed for projects to support control system commissioning and startups.
  • Drive ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution, office, and personal environments.
  • Specify, set up, and troubleshoot field process instruments.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment with multiple deadlines.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ten years of general experience in PLC /HMI control systems, development of control system architecture, development of SCADA Master Plans, Radio Telemetry systems, SCADA Network design, development of P&IDs, and lead design engineer.
  • Significant experience with industrial PLC programming and hardware implementation (e.g., Controlwave).
  • Experience with industrial HMI programming and implementation (e.g., OpenEnterprise, Ovation).
  • Experience with reviewing and creating designs for control systems, panel layouts, network architectures, and instrument location plans (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
  • Team player, ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills to large audiences.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Knowledge of municipal water/wastewater treatment processes and control systems, and information solution products.
  • Fifteen years of programming experience in Allen Bradley PLC5, SLC, CompactLogix, and ControlLogix, Modicon, Siemens, Emerson ControlWave programming, and/or in GE iFix, Allen Bradley FTView, GE iFix, Wonderware, VTSCADA, OpenEnterprise, and Ovation.
  • Experience with SCADA System Integration, including panel building, field wiring, testing, and commissioning of systems.
  • Professional Engineer registration for Florida.

The base salary range for this position is $60.00 to $75.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
