Quality Engineer - Temporary

JOB SUMMARY: Diving reduction of scrap and rework and ensuring customer requirement compliance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Improve key quality metrics of scrap and rework by implementing and supporting lean and continuous improvement activities.
  • Drive the operation to reduce scrap and rework by leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Determine most effective methods for inspection techniques.
  • Implement standardization of inspection techniques across manufacturing, assembly and supplier.
  • Supporting manufacturing on determining critical manufacturing factors that contribute to high quality of the product.
  • Provide guidance, support and training for corrective action activities in the manufacturing floor.
  • Statistical methods to control and evaluate process capabilities, such as SPC, machine capabilities and gauge R&R.
  • Provide a subject matter expertise while interacting internal, external customers by meeting regularly, responding requests, and resolving issues as they may rise.
  • Implement PPAP, process flows, FMEAs, control plans and capability assessment when appropriated.
  • Performs Quality audits to manufacturing processes and ensuring that all requirements are being followed.
  • Reviews contractual requirements for quality compliance, flow down requirements to all levels of the organization, and creation of customer compliance matrix.
  • Generates, reviews and process Quality non-conformances, conduct containment, obtains disposition, evaluate root causes and implement corrective action as required.
  • Performs FAI- First Article inspection processes per AS9102.

JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Advanced knowledge of Quality, manufacturing engineering processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills to proactively identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment.
  • Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • Experience/familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001 quality standards.
  • Familiarity in aerospace manufacturing processes and requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Familiarity with and understanding of aerospace bearing materials and machining processes.
  • Inspection and test methodologies preferred.
  • Proficient at blueprint reading, engineering drawing interpretation and tolerancing.
  • Highly self-motivated with demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and produce results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and work closely with Engineering (all), Leaders, Technicians, Operators and Set Up personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface well with customers.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality or related field is preferred.
  • 4-6 years of quality and manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a machining environment. Preference, grinding, turning and assembly.

PAY RANGE: $30.00 per hour DOE
