Test Automation Engineer - Java & Selenium

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria.

Cognizant is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Test Automation Engineer with a strong background in Java and Selenium to join our dynamic team. As an Automation Engineer at Cognizant, you'll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks and scripts. You'll work closely with development and QA teams to ensure the highest quality software delivery, contributing to our commitment to excellence and innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable and maintainable automation frameworks using Java and Selenium WebDriver.
• Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications, APIs, and other system components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, business analysts, product owners) to understand requirements and define test strategies.
• Integrate automation scripts with Azure DevOps for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Utilize and extend existing test frameworks using TestNG and Cucumber for BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) approaches.
• Explore and, if necessary, implement new automation tools and technologies, including Playwright, to enhance our automation capabilities.
• Mentor and guide junior automation engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Identify and analyze defects, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.
• Clearly and effectively communicate complex technical concepts and test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Several years of hands-on experience in test automation, with a strong focus on Java and Selenium.
• Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining Selenium WebDriver-based automation frameworks.
• Proficiency with Java programming language for test script development.
• Solid understanding and practical experience with TestNG for test execution and reporting.
• Demonstrable experience with Cucumber for writing and implementing BDD scenarios.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps for test management, pipeline orchestration, and source control.
• Knowledge of or experience with Playwright is a significant plus.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
