ROLE PROFILE:

Self-starting, passionate and intellectually curious senior backup & data protection specialist to join Storage and Backup Operations team. Responsible for administering the LSEG storage and backup infrastructure, ensuring enterprise storage, backup, and archive services for LSEG are resilient and performant. The successful candidate will work in the Storage and Backup support teams for LSEG, where our mission is to deliver a high level of service to all group companies ensuring that data I/O has the lowest possible latency and is recoverable on-demand.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Specialist senior backup and data protection SME responsible for the global backup and data protection estate for LSEG.

IT Skills

Broad technical knowledge of subject matter on at least two of below technologies and should be able to apply this knowledge to solving problems.

  • Backup tools - Rubrik(must), NetBackup, TSM, Avamar
  • Storage (optional) - Hitachi & NetApp

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Work closely with a multiple array of technical, business and 3rd party teams to deliver results.
  • Knowledge transfer and operational training for solutions with operational support teams
  • Respond to and resolve escalations for operational support.
  • Log and own all assigned incidents, problems and requests relating to storage, backup, archive and manage them through to restoration or resolution in accordance with the service level agreements to meet business needs. Provide regular updates on progress of incidents and requests to ensure satisfaction with the service before closing the incident or service request.
  • Prioritize and clearly account for work. Ensure that time recording for BAU and project activities are accurately recorded.
  • Be self-motivated in keeping technical knowledge up to date.
  • Provide out of hours support on a rota basis.
  • Understand the technology direction for the storage service and apply this to technical allocations and deployments.
  • Work closely with the service and change management teams to ensure that all changes, operational and project follow the minimum services standards and that service risks are minimized, and the service excellence process is a key area of focus.
  • Ensure that the storage estate is maintained, highlighting operational requirements to refresh or replace technology to Storage Team Lead or Engineering in a pro-active and timely manner.
  • Ensure that licensing and asset management is accurate, up to date and compliant.
  • Capacity management including an awareness of data retention policies within LSEG.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • In-depth knowledge of below is must have.
    • Enterprise backup systems such as Rubrik and NetBackup.
  • Hands on experience, a minimum 4+ years, in Operations and Support on Backup applications
  • Configuration of SLA domain in Rubrik
  • Working along with a team and guiding them to resolving issues
  • Engineer will be part of a 24/7 IT operations team and will be directly responsible for Backup related processes.
  • The position involves taking a lead role with customer and internal teams to resolve problems, maintain manage backup operations and, when necessary, to return systems to operational status.
  • Analysing daily backup failures, identifying root cause and resolving issues systematically to bring Backup success rate close to 100%
  • Proactive measures to ensure adequate storage capacity is available
  • Follow standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal team
  • Understanding of engaging Rubrik support and escalation on Rubrik issues
  • Interact with various internal teams such as escalations, engineering and facilitate communication between customers and other teams
  • Solid understanding and experience on other technology such as IBM TSM
  • Good knowledge on ITIL Process on Incident, Change, Problem and Request management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, together with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation skills: ability to deliver presentations and effectively communicate at all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders including team members, business users, 3rd parties, project managers, senior leadership and answer in-depth questions, accept constructive feedback, and modify work product accordingly.
  • Experience in producing and rapidly delivering minimum viable solutions, results focused with ability to prioritize the most impactful work.
  • Work independently under minimum supervision from your manager.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the entire technology stack
  • Any experience in any of below would be beneficial.
    • Hybrid spanning of backup systems between on-premises and public cloud, and general knowledge in AWS, Azure
    • Regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, DORA and their organizational impact
    • Automation
