Job Title: 5 Axis CNC Machinist/Operator

Job Description

We are seeking skilled 5 Axis CNC Machinist/Operators for 2nd and 3rd shifts. The role involves setting up and operating a variety of 5 and 3 axis machines to produce precision parts, ensuring product conformance using precision instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and portable CMM or FARO.
  • Machine parts to specifications using 5 & 3 axis machines.
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools for precision machining operations.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines per setup documentation.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed parts to ensure conformance using precision instruments.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine product conformance.
  • Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
  • Diagnose machine tool malfunctions and determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Consult with engineering, supervisory, or inspection personnel to verify technical information.
  • Fit and assemble fixtures and cutters to make or repair customer product.
  • Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
  • Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience running 3, 4, and 5 axis numerical control machines preferred
  • Experience with Mazak, Haas, and Fanuc Controls
  • Knowledge of g&m codes, height gauges, micrometers, and calipers
  • Experience with Vortex i-630V, Smooth X Controls, Siemens Controls

Work Environment

Work in a machine shop focused on aerospace, military, and space projects. The position involves working on subassemblies using advanced equipment and technology. Shift hours vary with 2nd shift from Monday to Thursday, 4:15pm to 2:45am, and 3rd shift from Friday to Sunday, 4am to 4:30pm. New employees undergo training for approximately 6-8 weeks before transitioning to 2nd or 3rd shifts.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $52000.00/yr.
