Job Description

Join a dynamic machine shop that specializes in fabricating parts for the oil and gas industry. Our focus is on producing bearings and seals for rotating equipment, but as a job shop, we handle a variety of work orders. We work with part dimensions ranging from 1" ID to 36" OD and up to 12" in length, utilizing materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, babbitt, and exotic metals. Our CNC milling operations utilize both vertical and horizontal machines, including 3, 4, and some 5-axis machines, with operators using Haas controllers.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling machines with vertical and horizontal mills.
  • Perform 3/4 axis machining and programming at the machine.
  • Ensure precision and adherence to tight tolerances.
  • Utilize G code and CAM software such as GibbsCAM and MasterCAM.
  • Set up and operate CNC and manual lathe machines.
  • Handle tooling and machining tasks efficiently.

Essential Skills

  • 10+ years of CNC machining experience.
  • Proficiency in mill machining, both vertical and horizontal.
  • Experience in 3/4 axis machining.
  • Ability to program CNC machines on-site.
  • Familiarity with Haas and Fanuc controls.
  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with 5-axis machining.
  • Ability to handle split parts and machine babbitt.
  • Previous experience in a competing bearing shop.

Work Environment

Work in a medium-sized, clean, air-conditioned shop maintained at around 72°F to prevent material warping during machining. The shop is organized yet busy, with parts in progress throughout. Join a team of 27 day-shift employees, including CNC machinists, manual machinists, QC, welders, assemblers, and general labor. Many employees have longstanding tenure in the bearing industry. The dress code includes steel toes, jeans, work shirt, and safety glasses. The 1st shift runs from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Fridays from 6:00 am to noon, with voluntary half-day Saturdays. Average work hours are 50 per week, with potential for mandatory Saturdays as workload increases.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Deer Park, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
