Compensation:

  • Annual Salary Range: $61,838.40 - $67,779.85

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Innovative Tech Program Manager (PSE) position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Innovative Technologies. This position exists to manage the Innovative Technologies Program and will work with the appropriate KDOT contacts within the Division as well as contacts in Legal and Fiscal to ensure that projects move forward in an expeditious manner. Other duties performed by this position are tied to data management, data purchases, process improvement, artificial intelligence, and maintaining understanding of new technology opportunities tied to improving our transportation network.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Promotes the Innovative Technologies Program, develops program materials (application, program information sheets, etc.), manages the application process, reviews applications, and recommends projects for award.
  • Assists the Bureau Chief in administering State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) projects.
  • Assists the Bureau Chief in administering KTRAN projects associated with the Bureau of Innovative Technologies.
  • Assists the Bureau Chief in supporting KDOT’s partnership with the Department of Commerce for administering the Broadband Acceleration Grant Program.
  • Supports efforts within the Bureau of Innovative Technologies tied to data management, data purchases, process improvement, artificial intelligence, and maintain understanding of new technology opportunities tied to improving our transportation network.
  • Assists with developing specifications for Connected/Autonomous Vehicles.
  • Minimal travel is required to attend meetings, conferences and to review projects in the field.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four years of experience in collecting, evaluating, studying or reporting on statistical, economic, fiscal / budget, legislative or administrative data.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
  • Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of experience (public or private sector) related to program management in an innovation/technical area/subject as well as business disciplines such as budgeting, accounting and program management.
  • Two or more years of experience in research and analysis.
  • Two or more years of writing and presentation experience.
