A Brief Overview
Independently supports the global design, implementation, and maintenance of private and public network infrastructure. Provides guidance and expertise to management and users on topics surrounding strategy and best practices. Provides information guidance to colleagues with less experience. Solves problems through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
What you will do
- Conducts maintenance and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems.
- Ensures appropriate monitoring of network connectivity and ensures high quality data transmission. Provides technical support to various departments and users with regards to LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks) and cloud-based networks.
- Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers.
- Implements the design public and/or private networks including LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks). Design work includes placement and specification of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems.
- Serve as a liaison with network engineers, vendors, and other third-party providers in installation of network.
- Participates in capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and disaster recovery testing.
- Provides regular status, operational , incident, and change reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 4+ years of enterprise networking experience, preferably with network certifications and knowledge of insurance/financial industries.
- Extensive expertise in network infrastructure including routing, switching, VPNs, wireless systems, WAN acceleration, and cloud networking, with specific proficiency in Cisco, Aruba, and Riverbed technologies.
- Strong knowledge of network security fundamentals including firewall systems, DMZ implementation, and Unix-based security systems, along with software-defined networking experience.
- Advanced skills in network cabling design, maintenance, and implementation of data center architectures, complemented by proficiency with networking testing and design tools.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with demonstrated success in translating complex business requirements into viable technical solutions.
- Outstanding project management capabilities, including the ability to handle multiple projects, set goals, and manage competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills, with proven ability to influence stakeholders across various operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
- Excellence in both written and verbal communication, with demonstrated ability to effectively share technical knowledge and concepts with diverse audiences.
- Strong team collaboration skills with proven ability to contribute to department initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Willingness to travel globally to support regional offices, combined with strong customer relationship management and change management capabilities.
