DESCRIPTION:

The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs is seeking a dynamic and collaborative English teacher to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work in one of the most innovative and state-of-the-art educational facilities in Nassau County. In this role, the English teacher will collaborate directly with Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructors by integrating English Language Arts instruction into a variety of CTE classrooms. The teacher will provide embedded instruction aligned with the English curriculum, supporting contextualized learning for students in grades 11 and 12. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Deliver a NYS certified integrated language arts program across multiple career education disciplines, ranging from animal care to welding.
  • Partner with CTE teachers to develop and implement contextualized curriculum and assessments that align with English Language Arts standards.
  • Support student learning by embedding literacy and communication skills into career-focused training.
  • Utilize virtual classroom management systems and instructional technology to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction.
  • Foster a learning environment that aligns New York State English Language Arts standards, literacy goals and college and career readiness benchmarks.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • New York State Education Department Certification - English (7-12)
  • New York State Education Department Certification - Special Education - Preferred
  • Three or more years of experience as an English Language Arts (ELA) teacher in a high school setting
  • Experience should also include integrating instructional technology into the curriculum, preferably within a CTE setting.

SALARY: As per contract.
