Posting Summary
The Department of Food Science is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual for a non-tenure track faculty position at Assistant Teaching Professor level to manage and oversee the operation of the three pilot plant facilities within the Department. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree with at least one post baccalaureate degree in Food Science.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance, repair, and safe operation of equipment within the pilot plants. The candidate will develop and enforce safety protocols and provide training to ensure all users can operate equipment effectively and safely. Strong expertise in food processing and hands-on experience with a wide variety of pilot scale food processing systems are essential.
In addition to managing the pilot plant facilities, the candidate will contribute to the Department’s teaching mission by delivering undergraduate-level courses in food processing and food engineering. The candidate will play a vital role in fostering student learning and engagement, leveraging their practical expertise to provide students with a robust understanding of industry-relevant techniques and principles.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to manage the pilot plant facilities and equipment effectively and collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
A demonstrated commitment to safety, education, and the advancement of food science and to the mission of the department is required.

Minimum Education and Experience

Candidate must work closely with faculty to ensure that teaching and shared laboratory equipment is running smoothly; be capable of working independently to determine problems and take appropriate steps to solve the problems; be able to guide students and post-docs on their research projects to determine best available options for use of equipment to reach their goals.
