Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Technician / CMT Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials including soil, concrete, and asphalt. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure quality control and compliance with project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections and materials testing on active construction sites.
  • Collect and analyze samples of soil, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate field reports.
  • Communicate findings to project managers and clients.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with all applicable standards.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in construction materials testing, including soil, concrete, and asphalt testing.
  • Ability to perform field and lab tests to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Accurate documentation of test results and observations in daily field reports.
  • Operation and maintenance of testing equipment such as concrete slump cones, air meters, and compaction gauges.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and local DOT requirements.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and communicate construction issues or non-conformances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • ACI certification, NICET certification, and geotechnical drilling experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in civil engineering or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction materials testing or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel locally to job sites.

Work Environment

Work primarily takes place in the field, requiring the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
