Primary Purpose:

Ensure a high quality web site to enhance internal and external communications.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to construct and implement the technical design for the district’s presence on the internet
  • Strong knowledge of social media, web design and desktop publishing
  • Strong knowledge of Content Management Systems
  • Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Must be fluent with graphic design, video, photography and image editing software (i.e. Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign)
  • Excellent skills in writing, proofing and editing
  • Ability to meet quick deadlines

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably in K-12 or public education environment

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Web Administration

  • Manage the district’s public web presence; seek ways to improve communications.
  • Consult with management to evaluate and implement tools and methods to deploy district information on the internet.
  • Work with the Chief of Communications to publish the most current information about the district.
  • Work with Campus Website Coordinators and department website editors to ensure their web pages meet District standards and are ADA compliant.
  • Ensure a consistent look and feel across the Web sites by developing and promoting a uniform Web branding strategy in collaboration with the Public Relations Department.
  • Assist campuses and departments in the design and maintenance of web pages.
  • Monitor all web sites for appropriate and up-to-date information.
  • Ensure website branding, tone, and messaging are consistent with district communication strategies.
  • Respond to content requests, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure broken links or outdated information are corrected.
  • Maintain district event calendars, emergency alerts, and news sections.
  • Coordinate with IT on integration of systems such as student portals, intranet, or leaning platforms.
  • Assist and create high-level district programs for digital and print, including but not limited to graduation, Teacher of the Year, service award and retirement, etc.
  • Assist and create flyers for district and campus events by request.
  • Supervise and coordinate the district’s alumni efforts.
  • Create and analyze reports on website activity and similar performance metrics on a weekly basis.

Public and Community Relations

  • Assist with marketing and graphic design assignments.
  • Assist as needed for the effective operation of the Public Relations Department.
  • Assist with community events.
  • Assist with special district projects.

Other

  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • None

Evaluation

  • Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; camera; video camera

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide and statewide travel

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

2025-2026 Salary Range Min. $73,675 Mid. $86,950 Max. $100,225 (Based on previous experience)

Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.
