Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

MSNBC is looking for an experienced Senior Producer to be responsible for creating, producing and supervising segments for Chris Jansing Reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the supervision of the editorial vision of each day, including creating the rundown, identifying strong elements and stories that lead to forward-looking, smart conversations about the day’s news
  • Supervise and copy edit segment producers’ scripts, banners and elements
  • Coach and mentor show staff – working collaboratively to help them grow
  • Work to make sure the anchor’s preferences and editorial guidance is in each day’s show
  • Suggest guests and segment ideas for future planning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 6 years of Editorial experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Ability to anticipate and respond quickly to change
  • Experience in story first journalism approach
  • Experience developing producer talent

  • Strong writing skills
  • Sound journalistic judgment
  • Possess ability to develop story ideas, research and plan segments
  • Knowledge of current events, politics and American history
  • Strong time management skills

Salary range: $125,000 - $180,000.
