Job Description

SGS has a great opportunity for a Laboratory Manager join our relief pool. This is a FIFO position travelling to our various onsite Laboratories:

Responsibilities include, however not limited to:

  • Keep clients informed on progress of samples and answer queries.
  • Manage priorities and monitor progress to ensure timeliness and quality of results.
  • Maintain appropriate staff levels and encourage enhancement of skills.
  • Ensure adequate organisational structure is in place.
  • Ensure staff training and records are kept.
  • Responsible for quality and accuracy of results.
  • Provide regular management and quality reports.
  • Maintain Quality Management System and Laboratory Manuals.
  • Ensure equipment is adequately maintained.
  • Maintain and improve own knowledge to be able to contribute towards progression of the laboratory.
  • Responsibility for P&L whilst working within a defined budget.
  • Contribute to setting operating and capex budget

Qualifications

  • Professional qualifications in chemistry or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Experience in laboratory work and chemical knowledge
  • Basic understanding of computer applications
  • Experience in supervising staff
  • Demonstrated experience in administration
  • Competent in using CCLAS LIMS
  • Knowledge of Company Quality Systems
  • Basic business finance understanding
