Academic Programmes Assistant - Genomic Medicine MSc

We are seeking to appoint an Academic Programme Assistant to provide administrative support for the Genomic Medicine MSc course.

You will provide support with all aspects of teaching delivery in the NDM commensurate with the world leading nature of the Department’s activity and reputation.

You will work closely alongside the Academic Programmes Officer, while supporting one of the NDM academic programmes and be responsible for the general course administration, specifically in support with admissions, assessment-related logistics and on-course student progression. Activities will range from supporting the Academic Programme Officer with admissions, to administrative tasks relating to course preparation as well as student feedback.

You will also work together with the academic team delivering the course, for example Course Directors, Course Co-Directors and Module Leads, Directors of Graduate Studies, Assistant Directors of Graduate Studies, lecturers, teachers and supervisors.

Activities as part of this job will include:

  • Managing enquiries from potential applicants, providing applicants with eligibility criteria, securely sharing applications with the shortlisting panel, and liaising with applicants over the outcome of their applications.
  • Ensuring that academic advisors, teachers and supervisors have access to relevant student systems (e.g. eVision, Canvas, SharePoint, Inspera etc.).
  • Supporting with arrangements and logistics for departmental committees and assist with notetaking when necessary.
  • Assisting the Course Directors with the scheduling of lectures.
  • Collating teaching resources as instructed by lecturers (this may involve database searching and/or scanning hard-copies).
  • Coordinating the nomination and election of student reps every year and invite them to all relevant committees and meetings.
  • Helping monitor course emails and respond to queries, manage email inboxes in a timely and professional manner at all times; highlighting complex or difficult emails or enquiries to the Academic Programme Officer as soon as possible.

It is essential that you have demonstrable administrative experience, with excellent organisational communication skills. You will also be able to work unsupervised, using own initiative as well as part of a team with strong work accuracy and attention to detail.
