DESCRIPTION

Define and drive the AI vision, strategy, and product roadmap for Amazon Marketplace, one of the largest and fastest growing business domains in Amazon Stores. This role will dive deep into AI/ML capabilities and develop strategies to a) build and deploy AI-powered solutions and b) drive adoption of AI tools across the organization.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop the AI vision, strategy, and product roadmap for Amazon JP Marketplace and present to senior executives.
• Own the prioritization framework for AI initiatives to decide which AI solutions to build and deploy.
• Work with various Tech and Science teams to build AI applications and solutions that drive business value.
• Demonstrate thought leadership in AI innovation and implementation strategies rather than just executing given requirements.
• Learn and share best practices with teams outside of Japan. If the US/EU are achieving good results, you will be responsible for learning what is working and replicating it in Japan. If Japan achieves good results, you are expected to share our best practices and insights with other regions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of overall technical experience, including 3+ years of hands-on experience with modern AI technologies and applications (remaining years in related technical domains such as Product Management, Data Science, Software Engineering, or similar fields)
• Strong understanding of latest AI concepts, including large language models and Generative AI, and their practical applications
• Experience building and launching AI-powered products/features
• Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages, and modern AI/ML frameworks and tools
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international business environment
• Ability to earn trust of, and influence various teams across a large global organization
• Experience influencing various teams across a large global organization
• Experience providing technical updates/proposals to senior executives (both verbal and written)
• Business level English (both verbal and written) required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD or MS in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field from a top tier program
• Experience with stakeholder management across Science, Tech, Product, Business, and Operations teams
• Japanese language skill preferred
• 5+ years of team/people management experience
