Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Assistant (RA) to join an academic project focused on developing a new app to encourage adherence to medical treatment regimes among the elderly population in Vietnam. The RA will play a key role in collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, working closely with older adults, healthcare professionals, and caregivers in Hanoi. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of health, technology, and aging.

Project: Medication Adherence among Elderly Vietnamese: Identifying Challenges and Technological Solutions for Effective Management

Reports to Project Lead

Key Accountabilities

Application Design

  • Designing a new app based on insights gathered from participants using Figma.
  • Help ensure the project meets its objectives and deadlines.
  • Collaborate/ Update other research members (CI and AI) in the team.

Data Management and Analysis

  • Coordinate and support another RA in conducting interviews and surveys, and manage the collected data.
  • Assist in organizing, transcribing and cleaning qualitative and quantitative data collected from surveys and interviews.
  • Perform initial data analyses on qualitative and quantitative data.

Review of Medication Adherence Apps

  • Conduct a rapid review of the main medication adherence apps available in other countries, and a more intensive review of those available in Vietnams.
  • Preliminary literature review related to the research topic.

Reporting

  • Prepare summaries and detailed reports of findings for the research team.
  • Contribute to the preparation of academic publications and presentations.

Key Selection Criteria

Educational Background:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, IT, Graphics Design, or a related area
  • Desirable: Postgraduate degree in a relevant field
  • Desirable: Some courses or practical experience in software engineering / information technology

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience collecting and analyzing data from human participants using interviews and/or questionnaires
  • Strong spoken and written English skills
  • Desirable: Experience working with older adults or other vulnerable people
  • Desirable: Experience of data analysis using Qualtrics, or similar software
  • Desirable: Familiarity with mobile UI UX development and Figma design methodology.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with diverse groups of stakeholders, including older adults and healthcare professionals
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel within Hanoi for data collection activities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Desirable: Demonstrable interest in health and/or new technology

  • Workload: 20 hours per week

English Proficiency

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS General 6.0 (or equivalent Linguaskill 160).
