Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a resourceful engineer to join our New Product Development team as a Test Engineer.

The Test Engineer is responsible for supporting Engineers with product testing and collaborating on the development of an FQTS document for all new products. This position is also responsible for controlling the Engineering Equipment List and managing the activities associated with the calibration of all lab equipment.

Essential Functions:

  1. The Test Engineer is responsible for the equipment list within the lab. This includes managing all calibration activities, entering all new equipment into the list at the time of purchase and controlling the check in/out process of all lab equipment.
  2. Leads activities associated with creating/maintaining a location and method for storing and sharing critical lab documents (procedures, guidelines, equipment list).
  3. This position recommends the purchase and design of necessary components/fixtures to allow for the connection of product to data loggers, sensors, and other lab equipment.
  4. Leads improvements of the Lab Test Request process. This includes electronic record keeping of date requested/completed, conclusions made, distribution, etc. This position is also responsible for sending e-mail reminders to any requesters delinquent with their conclusions.
  5. The Test Engineer organizes, reviews and analyzes testing procedures. This could include the removal/replacement of ineffective procedures, or an update on procedures that are incomplete or lacking information and the creation of new procedures.
  6. This position collaborates to create new, controlled Final Quality Test Specification (FQTS) documents. This establishes what testing and criteria is required to qualify new products and verify existing products. This requires working with other lab personnel, Engineers, managers, etc.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Controls lab's equipment list, manages calibration process.
  2. Leads the improvement of methods for collecting, organizing, and distributing data collected from testing.
  3. Organizes, reviews and analyzes procedures and guidelines as well as determine best location to store and share said documents.
  4. The Test Engineer manages and schedules preventative maintenance on all lab equipment.
  5. Assists Engineers with product testing, this includes building and wiring prototypes and products for testing.
  6. Recommends improvements to aid in the ability to collect and store measurements from products while testing, especially for life testing.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology or related field preferred or Associates Degree with minimum 2 years experience required
  • Strong written and oral communication and collaboration skills
  • Problem solving and analytical abilities
  • Lab testing experience
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 Lbs. periodically
