Job Title: Controls Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join our team. The role offers two schedule options: weekday nights from 5 PM to 5:30 AM, or weekend days from Friday to Sunday from 5 AM to 5:30 PM. The ideal candidate will excel in troubleshooting process and production equipment, serving as the lead troubleshooter for higher-level electrical and automation issues during their shift.
Responsibilities
- Lead troubleshooting for higher-level electrical and automation issues on assigned shifts.
- Train personnel on electrical and automation systems throughout the plant.
- Support, provide training, and conduct audits for the plant’s Lockout/Tagout program.
- Install, maintain, repair, or replace control devices such as HMIs, VFDs, PLC components.
- Participate in and comply with regulatory and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Monitor significant plant downtime events and initiate problem-solving activities.
- Support implementation and improvement of existing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate and supervise equipment installation associated with facility needs.
- Procure replacement and upgrade hardware as needed.
- Perform maintenance, repair, or calibration of electrical control components.
- Communicate issues and potential required changes with the Controls Engineer.
- Evaluate electrical equipment operation, suggest necessary actions for malfunctions or improvements.
- Monitor various plant utilities including chillers, air compressors, security systems, and fire protection systems.
- Complete process and preventive maintenance work orders and capture associated data.
- Maintain plant electrical control systems on equipment such as mixers, conveyors, compressors, and pumps.
- Troubleshoot electrical control issues and repair failures of production and facilities equipment.
- Install and monitor current monitoring systems.
- Enhance hardware and software knowledge for up-to-date troubleshooting capabilities.
- Develop control skills with mechanical and electrical maintenance technicians.
- Execute projects as needed.
- Assist mechanical and electrical technicians with preventive maintenance, breakdowns, and work orders.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of maintenance experience.
- 3 years of controls experience.
- Knowledge of PLC language (ladder logic, structured text, sequential function charts).
- Proficient in working with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, level controls, AC/DC drives, VFDs.
- Industrial electrical AC/DC troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of CMMS, SAP, MS programs.
- Ability to utilize electrical instruments in troubleshooting control systems.
- Awareness of electrical codes such as NEMA.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to produce and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of safe working practices around moving and electrical equipment.
- Understanding of OSHA and industrial safety protocols.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $77168.00 - $83969.00/yr.
