Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large components and finished products, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment. The successful candidate will manipulate components during the assembly process and learn the technical aspects of assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble large units using hand and power tools.
  • Utilize specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications for custom projects
  • Review work instructions and document processes and progress using CPUs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, fastening, sealing, hydraulic equipment, and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair in-process engines.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in an industrial environment working with hands.
  • Experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment, DC tools, and hand tools.
  • Mid-level minimum mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.
  • CPU skills to follow engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Ability to pass written and hands-on assessment during the training period.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, maintenance, or facilities industries.
  • Proven mechanical assembly skills and blueprint reading ability.
  • Knowledge of tape measure and work instruction usage.
  • Ability to use various tools including torque wrench, pneumatic air power tools, and electrical tooling.

Work in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment split between assembly and machine shop areas. Safety is the highest priority, with PPE such as steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses provided and required. Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks, working side by side in designated zones. Tobacco-free campus with designated break areas for tobacco use in vehicles.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr.
