The Data Engineer I will play a foundational role in transforming raw data into valuable insights by building and maintaining sophisticated data pipelines. This position supports data scientists, analysts, and business users by delivering clean, organized, and actionable data. This role also contributes to cloud and machine learning initiatives, requiring a scalable and secure data infrastructure.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:
- Design and implement internal processes for automating data delivery and optimization
- Build and maintain secure infrastructure for automated data pipelines and machine learning models aligned with business needs
- Assemble large, complex datasets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements
- Develop analytical tools that extract actionable insights from data to support business performance metrics
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to improve data models and support data-driven decision-making
- Support regular and ad-hoc data analysis requests to enhance understanding of customer behaviors
- Implement monitoring systems to ensure data accuracy, availability, and volume standards
- Perform root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to resolve issues

Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in data transformation, storage, and processing tools
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Working knowledge of distributed data frameworks such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, or equivalents
- Strong experience with SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Programming skills in Python, R, Scala, or Java
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail
- Ability to learn new technologies independently and apply them effectively
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and respond to customer needs
- Effective communication skills in both technical and non-technical contexts
Prior Experience:
- Prior experience in data analysis, statistics, data annotation, or data processing preferred
- Experience working in Agile environments is a plus
Project Specific Qualifications:
This role includes additional qualifications to help deliver bold, impactful work for our clients.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
Clearance:
- U.S. Citizenship required and the ability to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Public Trust
Requirements:
- ONE (1) or more years' experience in data engineering or a related field
- ONE (1) or more years' experience programming in Python and/or Java
- ONE (1) or more years of experience as an IT Systems Analyst or similar role
- Demonstrated expertise in analyzing, designing, and implementing technology solutions
- Proficiency in programming languages including Python and Java
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL databases, including database modeling, SQL querying, performance tuning, and data migration
- Experience developing and maintaining web interfaces utilizing modern frameworks and technologies such as React, Angular, or similar
- Experience gathering and documenting system requirements, creating system specifications, and performing impact analyses
- Familiarity with report automation methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Excellent communication and analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to liaise effectively between business stakeholders and technical teams
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Apache Cassandra preferred
- Exposure to data Lakehouse platforms like Databricks
- Understanding of stream processing, message queuing, and scalable data systems
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings.
Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

The salary range for this position is:
Minimum Salary: $75,087
Salary Midpoint: $95,737
Maximum Salary: $116,385
Hiring Range: $75,087-$113,099
