Part time
Candidate will be proficient in both Spanish and English languages, as well as skills related to oral interpretation and medical terminology. Basic computer and documentation skills are also essential.
SUMMARY
Responds to requests and interprets the specified language for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients, staff, and physicians within Trinity Health. Serves as an advocate for specific portion of the deaf or hard of hearing and LEP population regarding issues of culture, ethnicity, and language diversity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
All other language Interpreters: CCHI certification, or a passing score of 80% on a Trinity Health Medical Interpreter Qualification Exam; AND acquisition of the following: CORECHI certification within 12 months of employment and full CHI certification within 15 months of initial employment.
Preferred Completion of a qualifying medical interpreter training program.

Computer Competency
Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
Physical/Mental
Minimum Standing or walking for long periods of time (frequently). Computer work / keyboarding (occasionally)
Potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Potential exposure to communicable diseases. Assignment may be in any location within the hospital so conditions vary with assignment. Interactions with staff and patients/families may be routine or highly emotional. All interactions must be confidential.
