OB SUMMARY:

HDG Group Leader will provide leadership to a particular crew. Use their overall qualifications to train employees, ensure a quality product, ensure quality checks are completed, and provide troubleshooting. Fill in for absent operators and work with the Supervisors to meet or exceed the production goals.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Provide Team Leadership and coaching to mill, galv, threading, or slitter employees.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions, near misses, all incidents.
  • Support implementation of new/update processes and instructions.
  • Assist employees with operational issues and make corrections.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Shipping, Waste Water, Quality, and Safety to execute on actions or expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external departments as necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and their implementation.
  • Perform Setups, operational checks, and complete product inspections for efficiency and quality.
  • Must be able to successfully interact with MES stations and software to log downtime, capture information, consume material, submit work orders, etc.
  • Work with the supervisor to achieve and report on daily, weekly and monthly production goals.
  • Train employees on any of the line equipment components, including crane or forklift operations, as assigned by the Supervisor.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Must have a thorough understanding of, and be qualified to operate, all operation positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate team members.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
  • Visual acuity to read and record weights and numbers.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to measure steel tube, strip, quality specifications, accurately using various measurement tools.
  • Prior experience leading teams in a steel manufacturing environment a plus.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Forklift and crane certified.

The compensation for the role is $25/hr + production incentive bonus
