Job Description
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the GM launch and ensuring the implementation of engineering changes, supplier changes, and process improvements in current production. This role focuses on risk assessment, validation, and compliance with internal quality standards and customer requirements while minimizing production disruptions.
Responsibilities
- Lead quality aspects of engineering changes and supplier changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and validate changes before implementation.
- Ensure all quality documentation is updated accordingly.
- Support process validation activities, including capability studies, PPAP, and Run at Rate.
- Ensure supplier PPAP submissions are reviewed and approved in alignment with customer and company standards.
- Ensure compliance with IATF, AIAG Core Tools, and internal Quality Management System.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years experience in quality engineering.
- Strong knowledge of core tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, and SPC).
- Ability to read part drawings.
- Work experience in the automotive industry, with emphasis on electro/mechanical devices.
- Knowledge of EV components such as motors and inverters.
- Experience dealing with automotive customers.
- Bilingual Japanese language/translation.
- Knowledge of Quality Systems such as Q1, IATF16949, NPI, FMEA, Control Plans.
- Experience with development of SAP, Control Plans, FMEA’s, Process Operations Standards.
- Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering to assist with decisions related to Electro-Mechanical Processes.
- Well-organized, attention to detail, and able to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to lead projects obtaining the support of multiple departments.
- Analytical skills to understand product and process change points impact.
- Knowledge with problem-solving tools such as 5P, 5-why, DOE, FTA, with strong aptitude toward root cause analysis.
Work Environment
This position is on the Electric Motor side of the plant, in a clean room environment. The workweek is approximately 45 hours, with flexibility to work additional hours as required by job/project. The role involves working closely with new lines primarily for GM, with up to 15% domestic and international travel to suppliers and customers as needed. The shift is from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, and the large plant requires walking 10,000+ steps a day.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.
