Dakota State University (DSU) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our K-12 Data Center team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative statewide initiatives that support K-12 schools across South Dakota. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying advanced software solutions that enhance data management, system integration, and educational technology tools.

This position offers remote work flexibility but requires the employee to reside in the state of South Dakota.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
    • Significant professional experience in software development may be accepted in lieu of a formal degree.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, preferably with web-based applications and relational databases.
  • Strong proficiency with C#, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Experience designing and maintaining SQL databases and writing efficient queries.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop applications using the appropriate resources and programming languages.
  • Design and implement necessary database architectures.
  • Update existing applications to comply with current architecture and security standards.
  • Research and implement ways to increase the performance of existing applications.
  • Monitor program and website generated logs and notifications to determine the frequency and impact of errors in statewide services.
  • Prioritize and troubleshoot errors.
  • Research errors stemming from changes in integrated third-party services.
