Project Overview:

This role supports the digital transformation of mission-critical federal systems through the development and delivery of secure, scalable solutions built on Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and Azure Data Services. The Database Architect will play a key role in the U.S. Coast Guard’s data modernization initiative—leading data architecture, integration, and solution development across platform components.

As a Senior Database Architect on our delivery team, you’ll join a culture focused on collaboration, iteration, and continuous improvement. Our agile DevSecOps teams are dedicated to exploring new technologies, automating where possible, and solving meaningful problems in support of public service missions.

Technical members of our solutions teams require little guidance, but love to learn, collaborate, and solve problems. This position requires experience and passion for coding, and a strong desire to solve our customers’ unique technology challenges.

Role Summary:

The Database Architect is a senior technical contributor responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing data architectures that power modern business applications. This hybrid role combines advanced Power Platform development capabilities with strong data engineering, integration, and modeling expertise. The ideal candidate brings a developer’s mindset to data modernization—building scalable, automated solutions that drive value and impact.

Core Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership and strategy in the development of enterprise applications.

Lead the design and implementation of data models supporting Power Platform and enterprise apps.

Architect and build data integration pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, Power Automate, and REST APIs.

Deliver hands-on Power Platform development to streamline and automate organizational business processes.

Develop application Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) and Minimal Viable Products (MVPs) to demonstrate and iteratively build on their business value and functionality.

Integrate Power Platform with other systems using Azure, Data Factory, Data Flows, Power Automate, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, REST APIs, and custom connectors.

Assess business needs and recommend a suitable and optimal technology stack.

Define and implement secure backend solutions using Dataverse, SQL Server, SharePoint, and custom data sources.

Contribute to solution architecture decisions, technical documentation, and coding standards.

Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, and developers to align data strategies with business goals.

Participate in agile ceremonies and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps or Jira.

Required Experience:

Minimum 8 years of total IT experience with 7+ years in application development and data integration.

Minimum of 5 years with hands-on professional experience developing applications using Microsoft Dynamics, D365, and Power Platform including Canvas Apps, Model-Driven Apps, Dataverse, and Power Pages.

Strong experience with backend data design using Dataverse, SQL Server, and SharePoint.

Strong experience Integrating Power Platform with other systems using Azure, Data Factory, Data Flows, Power Automate, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, REST APIs, and custom connectors.

Lead the definition of back-end solutions for Power Platform, including Dataverse, SharePoint, SQL, or other databases.

Experience with Azure B2C or Login.gov integration.

Experience working on a Scrum team using a ticket management system (Azure DevOps or Jira)

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

Exemplary communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft Certifications in Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, and / or Dynamics 365.

Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government programs.

Agile certification (Scrum Master, PMI-ACP, or equivalent).

Active DoD clearance or HSPD-12 credential.
