Description:What You Will Be Doing:

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full-time highly skilled Senior Automation/AI Systems Engineer to join our team in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, AI/ML application and models, and automation, with experience in developing and integrating complex systems. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams collaboratively to:

  • Lead design, develop, and deployment of automation, AI, and ML solutions to improve business and customer processes and operations
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify requirements, use cases and opportunities for automation and AI/ML adoption
  • Manage a complex integration via Agile release Train and DevSecOps processes: AI/ML models using various frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
  • Implement automation solutions using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Work with senior data engineers and software engineers to design and implement data pipelines and architectures to support customer and business processes
  • Develop and maintain software applications using programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python)
  • Participate in the development of system architectures, including cloud-based and on-premises solutions
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and system safety teams to ensure the security and safety integrity of automation, AI, and ML solutions
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system design artifacts, architecture modeling, user manuals, and training materials
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging industry standards, trends and technologies in automation, AI, and ML, and apply this knowledge to improve existing solutions and develop new ones

Communicating with internal and external customers will be required.

Must be a US Citizen;

This position will require a government security clearance; This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Practical application and experience in the use and improvements driven by Optimization engine software systems (Gurobi, SCIP, GLPK, Bayesian, etc.)
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, R, MATLAB, or equivalent
  • Practical application and experience with design, develop and delivery of successful customer/internal facing AI/ML features and/or software applications
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including design patterns, testing, and/or version control

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
  • Experience with Project Management and presentations to varying audiences, leadership levels and customers.
  • Experience with Visualization tools (e.g. PyPlot, Vaadin Charts, Seaborn, Tableau, etc.)
  • Strong experience in technical writing and system design documentation, including peer review processes and version control.

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
