Amazon's Demand Forecasting Science team is at the forefront of machine learning innovation. As a Data Scientist, you'll join a team of accomplished scientists to develop foundation models for time series forecasting, driving over $200M in weekly inventory decisions and informing core business decisions from supply chain optimization to labor planning. Key job responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate innovative deep learning techniques to drive accuracy improvement
  • Utilizing code (Python, R, Scala, SQL etc.) for analyzing data and building statistical and deep learning models
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced scientists to drive technological advancements.
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex business problems in collaboration with partner teams.
  • Contribute to Amazon's global science community through collaboration and publication of pioneering research
  • Engage in research projects that contribute to the wider scientific community, sharing findings through publications in top-tier journals and conferences.

A day in the life

Your role will involve analyzing billions of rows of data using distributed computing systems, conducting statistical analyses, and implementing novel deep learning models to improve forecast accuracy. You'll work closely with partner teams to understand how our predictions influence broader supply chain decisions, focusing research efforts on areas that most impact Amazon's bottom line. You'll stay current with the latest developments in forecasting and AI research to drive model innovations. You will be responsible for clearly communicating complex insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping drive innovation across the organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and analytics techniques experience
  • 2+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
  • 2+ years of data scientist experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree, or PhD
  • 2+ years of implementing deep learning models in a production environment
  • Experience processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities (Millions to Billions of rows) of data
  • Natural curiosity and desire to learn
  • Experience in forecasting and time series is a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
