FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens , LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.

Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. The Program of Radiologic Technology at LaGuardia Community College seeks to fill two positions at the Lecturer level to teach courses in the Associate Degree Radiologic Technology Degree Program. The successful candidate will have to contribute to curriculum and program development; serve on department, college and university committees; advise and mentor students; and work on other department related projects as needed. Day, evening, weekend.

Other Duties include:

  • Maintain professional certification
  • Actively participate in the Radiologic Science Program Advisory Board Committee
  • Coordinate Student Radiation Safety to include maintaining student monitoring and assisting with keeping radiographic equipment in quality working order
  • Assist with the Development of new clinical affiliations for the clinical practicum sites and maintaining and updating as needed the clinical contracts for all student clinical practicum sites
  • Maintain accurate records for each student enrolled in the didactic, laboratory, and clinical practicum
  • Attend to problems and situations relative to the students education to ensure adequate professional behaviors and clinical experiences
  • Ensure student success through counseling and adherence to program and college polices
  • Provide individual sessions with students to ensure that learning outcomes are met and assist in evaluating the achievement of clinical competencies
  • Assist in creating and coordinating the clinical education schedule in a timely manner
  • Participate in local/state/national affiliate in-service meetings as necessary
  • Keep up to date on all aspects of Radiologic Science
  • Maintain and demonstrate a professional attitude and continue to grow in professional knowledge and assist with all levels of student advisement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health or educational related field.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification along with New York State Registration as a Radiologic Technologist

Three years clinical experience in radiology required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

All faculty will be required to submit to a drug screen and criminal background check.

COMPENSATION

$64,426 -$76,870

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by approximately 9.54% with an additional increase of 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
