Job Description

The Electrical Assembler is responsible for assembling electrical systems and components in accordance with engineering schematics and specifications. This role involves assembling electrical components and control devices to heavy subassembly units based on electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams. Tasks include wiring circuits, outlets, and switches, as well as calibrating parts and mechanisms to meet product tolerances. You must be proficient in using basic tools such as drills, impacts, and grinders from day one. The position requires working independently at times and collaboratively with a team of assemblers. You will also operate material handling devices and lifts, including pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and mobile floor cranes. Your role will involve fitting, testing, and calibrating parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical components and control devices to heavy subassembly units based on electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Wire circuits, outlets, and switches.
  • Calibrate parts and mechanisms to meet product tolerances.
  • Operate basic tools such as drills, impacts, and grinders.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other assemblers.
  • Operate material handling devices and lifts, including pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and mobile floor cranes.
  • Fit, test, and calibrate parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of electrical assembly experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cable routing, cable tray installation, wire cutting, stripping, crimping, connector installation, and labeling.
  • Assembly of electrical panels and sub-assemblies.
  • Experience reading/interpreting blueprints or schematics.
  • Proficiency in operating measuring tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Experience working with conduit and up to 480v.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC power principles.
  • Familiarity with color codes, wiring standards, and terminal block connections.
  • Comfortable following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and checklists.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical safety practices and PPE requirements (OSHA/NFPA 70E).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in repetitive motion environments.
  • Reliable, punctual, with good communication skills, and able to work in a team-based production environment.
  • Initiative to identify tasks, assist others, or seek guidance when needed.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or equivalent wire harness training is preferred.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage or low-voltage assemblies.
  • Experience with PDUs, UPS systems, or power cabinets in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using test equipment like multimeters, hipot testers, and continuity testers.
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing, ISO 9001, or cleanroom production processes.
  • Basic computer or tablet skills for accessing digital work orders or schematics.
  • Willingness to cross-train and work collaboratively in mechanical assembly, quality inspection, Shiploose, or warehouse.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production environment with exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, and other hazards. The position requires frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing between 10 and 50 pounds. Safety protocols must be followed at all times. The work schedule is first shift from 5:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $29.50/hr.
