Position Summary

Support City services and goals by providing excellent data architecture leadership, expertise, and innovation; lead and oversee all aspects of data architecture; liaise with internal or external partners and stakeholders. Present proposals on gathering, storage, use, transformation, presentation of structured and unstructured data to further business goals; ensure that policies, procedures and standards for data and information architecture, data modeling, conceptual database design, as well as data naming and meta data documentation standards are applied consistently; lead the work of other data and database professionals; perform and oversee a variety of high level administrative and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information science, computer science, engineering, data science, statistics, or information technology preferred; and

Five (5) years of highly complex and responsible database management, data analytics, data integration and architecture, or computer programming experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Preferred Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of databases including relational databases, no-SQL databases, and geospatial databases
  • Proficient with database management software and skills
  • Principles and uses of Oracle and MS SQL and related scripting languages
  • Principles and practices of project management, including business analysis and project implementation
  • Methods and techniques of applications development and common development languages
  • Principles and practices of software installation
  • Methods and techniques of data modeling and conceptual data and information architecture solutions design
  • Advanced and emerging data storage techniques
  • Methods and techniques related to data governance, including standardized data vocabularies and related capabilities (business glossaries, data dictionaries, etc)
