Scope of Position

The Senior Financial Advisor is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) Shared Resources by maintaining the integrity of financial processes and ensuring compliance with institutional standards. Under the direction of the Finance Director, the advisor leads efforts in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and strategic planning to support operational efficiency and long-term sustainability. This role also ensures accurate financial reconciliation, provides data-driven insights for leadership decision-making, manages monthly financial activities, and supports staff training and development.

Position Summary

The Senior Financial Advisor supports the financial operations of the OSUCCC Shared Resources under the direction of the Finance Director. This role ensures financial integrity, efficiency, and compliance with institutional practices. Responsibilities include strategic planning, forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, and monthly account reconciliation. The position also oversees accounts receivable, staffing recommendations, asset management, and provides ad-hoc reporting for leadership. Additionally, the advisor trains new staff and acts as a backup to financial analysts, contributing to the overall financial sustainability and operational success of Shared Resources.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or Business Administration required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; 6 years of financial management experience required, 8-12 years relevant experience preferred.

Master’s Degree or CPA preferred; knowledge of accounting, policy and finance principles; strong analytical, problem solving, and computer skills and the ability to manage time efficiently to complete multiple tasks with competing deadlines; ability to demonstrate working independently; take initiative for process improvement; Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
