Machine/Fabricating Shop Planner/Router
Location: Watkins Glen, NY
Pay: $20–$22 per hour, based on experience
Our client, a respected manufacturer in the Watkins Glen area, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shop Planner/Router to support planning and workflow coordination in their machine and fabrication shop. This is a key role responsible for interpreting technical documentation, developing job routes, and ensuring efficient production scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation (including GD&T)
- Create, maintain, and manage job routings and production plans using ERP/MRP systems or job tracking software
- Coordinate with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to align schedules and material needs
- Monitor job progress, update timelines, and communicate any changes to the appropriate teams
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to workflow efficiency
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation
- Assist with shop floor coordination and ensure routing data supports quality and timely output
Required Skills:
- Proficient in reading blueprints and engineering drawings, including GD&T
- Experience using ERP or MRP systems, Excel, or other job planning software
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Manufacturing Planner (CMP)
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
- OSHA 10/30-Hour safety certification
- ERP/MRP system training (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
