Mō te tūranga | About the Role

At Westpac we are improving the core platforms that we use to deliver digital financial services to our business customers. Business banking is an exciting and growing area which involves developing systems across a range of cloud based and internal technology stacks.

In this key role, you will collaborate across organisational boundaries to provide Platform Engineering and Site Reliability expertise to support applications deployed within the Business Segments tribe. You will be responsible for defining pipelines to deploy resilient platform components and workflows based on application requirements that meet required service level objectives and ensure that they are continually monitored and improved. You will also use your Platform Engineering expertise to add input to and review system design decisions where required.

You will need to remain aware of business, infrastructure, and technical trends to aid in the development and implementation of innovative solutions, and anticipate future direction in the tech industry that relates to current or upcoming requirements.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • Proven experience in Linux system administration, along with Docker packaging, deployment, and networking.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes workload deployment and management advantageous.
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, Ruby, and a working knowledge of Java.
  • Exposure to service mesh technologies is a plus.
  • Hands on experience leveraging monitoring and observability tools such as Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Dynatrace or similar tools
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices.
  • Configuration management using Chef, Terraform, Helm Charts or similar tools.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in agile teams.
  • Confidence in evaluating new tools and recommending technical improvements.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues.
