Purpose

The bulk handler will ensure the safe and efficient loading and unloading of bulk trucks in accordance with Ravago’s policies and procedures.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

1. General Policy
2. Safe loading and unloading of finished and bulk materials from trucks, railcars, or other containers utilizing specialized equipment like forklifts, pumps or conveyors.
3. Work in conjunction with the short-line railroad team in the coordination of rail movements within our yard (Operation of Blue Flags and De-Railers).
4. Data entry for inbound and outbound bulk materials.
5. Scale bulk trucks and duties that are associated with this task.
6. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
7. Maintain all paperwork accurately which requires verifying numbers, and identification of loads to assure correct load is being transferred or loaded.
8. Ability to follow safety related regulations and product specifications to avoid product contamination.
9. The ability to keep the loading area and railyard clean and organized, removing debris and spills to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
10. The ability to obtain samples from elevated platforms.
11. Report discrepancies or problems to supervisor as noted.
12. Ability to use a hand-held scanning device.
13. Safely operate forklifts and various other equipment as assigned.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications

1. Education:
2. High school diploma or GED required.
3. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (with emphasis in Microsoft Excel) and a capability to learn basic and required advanced systems.
6. Experience:
7. Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in similar position and scope of responsibility – preferred.
8. Experience using basic math daily and common fractions and decimals.
9. Strong knowledge of office processes and systems.
10. Demonstrated understanding of inventory management and product flow.
11. Ability to maintain machinery necessary to perform a specialized task.
12. Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment.

Physical Requirements / Demands

1. Must be able to lift 55lbs.
2. Must have color vision.
3. Ability to trans load product from one container to another avoiding spills and contaminations.
4. Bend, stoop, climb, walk, sit and do medium effort work for at least 8 hours during shift.
5. Frequently climb in and out of cab, truck or tractor.
6. Able to climb 30-50 feet without fear of heights, and walk on top of trailers and walkways.
7. Have use of fingers and hands for writing and typing.
8. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouch or crawl and reach with hands & arms.
9. Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on the seasons.

Salary Range: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
