Director, Content Operations (Direct-to-Consumer)

Tennis Channel seeks a dynamic Director of Content Operations to oversee the end-to-end content lifecycle for our DTC streaming platform. Our direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming service provides fans with live matches, original programming, highlights, and on-demand content. We’re passionate about connecting tennis enthusiasts with the sport they love through innovative technology and high-quality storytelling.

This role ensures seamless delivery of live and on-demand content, optimizes workflows, and enhances viewer experiences. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem-solver with expertise in streaming operations, cross-functional collaboration, and a passion for tennis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Workflow Management:
    • Oversee content ingestion, metadata tagging, scheduling, and publishing via CMS.
    • Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely delivery of live/VOD content.
    • Validate compliance with DRM, licensing agreements, and geo-restrictions.
  • CMS & Technical Oversight:
    • Maintain and optimize CMS performance; troubleshoot issues with engineering teams.
    • Implement metadata strategies to enhance content discoverability and SEO.
    • Test new platform features (e.g., interactive elements, multi-language support).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with Programming to align content schedules with audience demand.
    • Support Marketing in promoting content through trailers and timely launches.
    • Work with Engineering to resolve streaming bottlenecks and improve CDN performance.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
    • Monitor live streams for quality, latency, and uptime; escalate issues promptly.
    • Ensure adherence to brand and technical standards (e.g., video codecs, closed captions).
  • Analytics & Optimization:
    • Analyze viewer engagement data to inform content strategy and scheduling.
    • Report on performance metrics (viewership, retention, errors) to stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify workflow inefficiencies; implement automation and best practices.
    • Stay updated on streaming trends (4K/HDR, FAST channels, personalization).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in media, communications, or related field
  • 5–7 years in content operations, preferably in streaming, OTT, or sports media
  • Technical proficiency in CMS platforms, video encoding (H.264, H.265), metadata standards (XML, JSON)
  • Strong project management skills (Agile, Jira) and ability to prioritize under deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration
  • Passion for innovation in digital media and sports
  • Flexibility required during major tournaments (e.g., Grand Slams) to ensure flawless live coverage

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of tennis tournaments, players, and fan engagement
  • Experience with live sports streaming and OTT platforms (Brightcove, AWS Elemental)
  • Familiarity with multi-platform distribution (iOS, Android, Roku)

The base salary compensation range for this role is $135,000 to $150,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
