As an Aggregate Dispatcher, you are responsible to safely assign equipment and personnel for completion of duties or deliveries to ensure on time and efficient use of aggregate resources by dispatching trucks and personnel in a timely manner to ensure the targeted service level and cost. Scale Operator responsibilities involve weighing trucks, assisting with customer needs, and monitoring pit functions.
This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round.
Salary range: $21.00 - $30.00 per hour
Hours per week: 40+
Duties and/or Responsibilities:
1. Answers phone to take/alter customer's order and complete all required information. Ensure the customer understands all relevant
company policies such as “will calls”, additional products over amount ordered, towing charges, and our driver's responsibilities.
2. Obtains all pertinent information from customer including but not limited to: customer code, name and relevant credit information;
project or quote number and job name; delivery address and instructions to the jobsite; required numbers such as PO, lot/block,
customer job number; concrete mix, slump and admixes; pouring method and number of unloading sites; use of the concrete;
desired job start time; delivery rate in spacing, quantity per hour or number of trucks; travel time to and from the jobsite; any
restrictions in load size; special truck types required or not desired whether the order is a "go" or "will call". If “will call”, agree on a
time of day to release and agree what will happen if the call is not received.
3. Verify the order back to the customer to ascertain the accuracy of the information . Inform the customer of warnings concerning
product hazards, load limits, vehicle weights and limitations.
4. Verify method of payment for each order – does the customer have a charge account or do we need to process a credit card or
check payment.
5. Inform dispatch personnel of special instructions and give adequate notice to ensure proper materials are available
6. Complete understanding of dispatch system, process and maintenance (quotes, product line items, pricing, mix designs, etc.)
7. Ability to read maps and follow directions
8. Superior customer service skills, understanding of concrete properties and mix designs, knowledge of applicable government and
industry regulations
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, prioritize multiple tasks, strong organizational and conflict resolution skills
10. Ability to operate office machines and intermediate level computer skills (Work, Excel, Windows & Outlook)
11. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations . Self-motivated,
team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
12. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors
13. Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
2. One year of telephone service or order taking in a business environment.
3. Concrete and Aggregate product training and dispatch experience preferred
4. Ability to work 50+ hours per week during construction season including occasional Saturday morning
