The Principal Systems Administrator develops and maintains all systems, applications, security and network configurations. Responsible for installing new software releases, system upgrades, installing patches and resolving server and desktop related issues. Troubleshoots network performance issues and maintains networking hardware. Develops solutions, researches, and plans for adoption of new technologies to provide a competitive advantage to the company. Establishes practices, procedures, and concepts related to Information Technology as it relates to the organization. Handles system administration as well as end-user system support for complex Tier 2/3 issues.

  • Manage software distribution systems handling the creation and maintenance of software deployments for the Enterprise, including management of the Office 365 thick client.
  • Manage and maintain MTSI’s imaging system on Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), including updating images with the latest patches and applications for new user deployments.
  • Image systems with Microsoft Development Toolkit (MDT).
  • Manage and maintain Enterprise phone system. Responsible for managing IVR’s, call routing, and other Enterprise-wide settings.
  • Manage and maintain Enterprise printing services such as printer management, deployment, and configuring and managing services such as secure print
  • Configure and deploy all Logitech hardware/software in new and existing conference rooms.
  • Work in a team of system administrators to administer Office365 including Teams, OneDrive, Exchange, SharePoint, and any future deployed software such as Bookings. Manage Office 365 deployments via the office toolkit and group policy.
  • Lead administrator for Intune Mobile Device Management, including creation and deployment of applications, and Enterprise-wide configurations. Work jointly with Security team on Intune security policies.
  • Work in a team of system administrators to administer e-mail policies and configurations, such as mail flow, forwarding, spam filters.
  • Work in a team of system administrators to manage external DNS configuration for the domain.
  • Administer ServiceNow ITSM and Asset Management systems to include workflow creation and other administrative tasks.
  • Travel to MTSI offices as the IT liaison for users at other sites on a regular basis
  • Work as team lead to travel to new MTSI offices being stood up to configure all IT equipment, including domain controllers, file servers, routers/switches, network wiring, phones, and conference rooms.
  • Manage the internal network monitoring and alerting system. Respond to and address alerts for network, server, and service outages.
  • Manage MTSI’s emergency alert system, sending out alerts for Enterprise-wide issues like WAN outages.
  • Deploy and configure desktops/laptops, printers, networking devices, and software.
  • Troubleshoot network hardware/software (routers, switches, etc.), and desktops, laptops, and servers.
  • Diagnose Windows 10/11, Office 2010/2013/2016 and other application issues.
  • Track and maintain computer assets using asset management tools and ensure asset management systems have up-to-date information.
  • Provide analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware and software solutions.
  • Manage all aspects of Windows Active Directory infrastructure including Domain Controllers, DNS servers, DHCP servers, and file servers.
  • Installation, configuration, and support of servers, enterprise storage and associated equipment, network and direct attached storage systems and associated equipment.
  • Plan and coordinate system utilization and perform growth analysis and capacity planning.
  • Review current system and make technical/process recommendations for improving efficiency.
  • Deploy servers for new or existing projects.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in response to customer requests.
  • Research and/or contact vendors regarding technical problems and solutions.
  • Document system deployments and configurations.

Technical experience should include:

  • Strong Microsoft Windows background.
  • Knowledge of various computer software applications, hardware platforms, networking components and LAN/WAN architecture.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems.
  • Experience with image deployment systems such as MDT.
  • Experience managing Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems.
  • Experience managing Enterprise VoIP systems.
  • Experience managing user and group permissions and overall user account management in Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of ITSM system administration.
  • Strong knowledge of network wiring, including wiring patch panels, switches, and routers.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring systems.
  • Strong knowledge of designing and implementing Windows Active Directory infrastructure, including domain controllers, DNS servers, DHCP servers, and file servers.
  • Strong knowledge of design and configuration of Microsoft Group Policy.
  • Strong knowledge of Office 365 administration, including Azure Active Directory, Teams, OneDrive, and Exchange Online e-mail administration.
  • Experience building, monitoring, patching, configuring and troubleshooting Windows servers.
  • Experience managing Enterprise printer resources and features.
  • Designing and deploying conference room A/V equipment including speakers, cameras, microphones, etc.
  • Installation and configuration of hardware and software.
  • Performance tuning and Troubleshooting.
  • Experience administering endpoint deployment and management systems, and asset management systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting common networking issues on client systems.
  • Strong knowledge of standard networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and network hardware such as switches and routers.
  • Experience working with business class server hardware; including hardware/firmware upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with common network protocols and services (TCP/IP stack), such as DNS, SMTP, FTP, Telnet, SSH etc.
  • Experience with storage management, such as partitioning local disks, configuring RAID, and/or SAN/NAS implementations.

  • Experience writing technical and end user knowledgebase and manuals.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and tickets at the same time.
  • Experience working in a corporate IT environment.
  • Willingness to travel to other offices as needed.

Minimum Training/Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical degree; or Bachelor’s degree in non-related field accepted with adequate training and experience in Information Technology.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in IT System Administration.
  • Must be able to obtain Secret Clearance, ideal candidate will have an active Secret; US citizenship required.

Desired Training/Education:

  • One or more enterprise level certifications such as MCSA or MCP certification.
  • ServiceNow administration knowledge.
