Responsibilities:

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is searching for an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support the United States Space Force (USSF) by engaging defensive cyberspace operations stakeholders to determine requirements and architectural roadmaps to shape design, development, test, and deployment of defensive cyber capabilities across the USSF. A successful candidate should have a deep understanding of defensive cyber technologies and policy, the relevant stakeholders and their equities, and be a leader and problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a fast-paced environment.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

In coordination with relevant stakeholders, establish and prioritize requirements for rapid development and fielding of leading defensive cyber capabilities. Associated functions include leading or contributing to studies and analysis to select best existing (COTS) capabilities, or low TRL/prototype capabilities (commercial or governmental) that may be rapidly matured and deployed as operationally accepted capabilities. Coordinate with model-based systems engineers, cloud architects, and configuration management to establish DoDAF compliant technical baseline and architecture authoritative source of truth. Understand and stay current on threats and adversary TTPs (e.g. ATT&CK) to inform requirements. Work with software development and integration Scrum Masters and product owners to promote rapid, efficient development, test, and deployment of secured capabilities (DevSecOps).

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, cybersecurity, or STEM related specialty and 18 years’ related professional experience; or Master’s degree in these fields with minimum of 10 years’ experience
  • Must have DoD 8140 Qualification Intermediate level, Advanced level preferred
  • Must have experience working with or in key USSF defensive cyber stakeholders: primary examples are applicable cyber Space Operations Command staff, mission deltas, or Delta 6, including the Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) and the Security Ops Center (SOC)
  • Must possess technical understanding of current USSF defensive cyber capabilities, requirements (e.g. Capability Needs Statement), requirements processes

Desired skills/experience:

  • Additional experience with Space Systems Command, Space Rapid Capabilities Office, Space Development Agency, Missile Defense Agency, NRO, and any organization/community engaged in deploying Space systems requiring defensive cyber tools
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering and cloud services and architectures
  • Prior military experience with skills applicable to cyber operations

Clearance:

  • Must possess a Top Secret with SCI eligibility. SAR/SAP experience highly desirable

Location/Travel Requirements:

  • Place of work is onsite in Colorado Springs. You may be required to travel periodically, less than 10%.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $160,000/year to $200,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract rates, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act.
