The Global Engineering Services (GES) is seeking an experienced program manager to join the Middle Mile Engineering Programs (MMEP) team to support the middle mile logistics network in Europe and UK. Our program managers are key players in delivering end-to-end solutions to our logistics network, thinking about the bigger picture, influencing key business decisions and pioneering new ways of thinking. In this role you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across organizations and regions, scoping new solutions and making a big impact on some of the most exciting ideas that are shaping the future of Amazon.

As a program manager the candidate will support in the creation, implementation and execution the Container Load Program (CLP) initiatives across all miles, in both EU and UK. The Container Loading Program (CLP) is a cross-BU initiative focused on optimizing how outbound volume is loaded and transported across the EU network. It governs three primary container types—Fluid Loading, Carts, and Bags. CLP exists to reduce transportation cost, improve site labor efficiency, and increase cube utilization, while ensuring standardization and visibility across the network.

This role focuses on developing and implementing CLP initiatives while ensuring seamless operational integration of both new and existing programs. The position requires leading the Bags and Lose Loads (LL) Optimization strategy through structured project management, working closely with stakeholders to improve compliance, increase attainment, and drive cost reduction efforts. Working in partnership with Operations, Network Planning, ACES, and Engineering teams, the Program Manager will coordinate the development of comprehensive optimization roadmaps. They will identify and address implementation constraints, establish robust management processes, and develop effective reporting tools. Their strategic insights will be crucial for peak preparation, planning cycles, and investment decisions, ensuring optimal containerized solutions across the network.

Key job responsibilities

Bags and LL Optimization:

Develop and drive Non-compliance mitigations and roadmap

Create attainment-enabling projects across miles (engineering, process, infrastructure)

Develop cost reduction initiatives (e.g. container fill rates improvement)

Identify and develop design requirements for creation of engineering solutions

Identify Tech solutions and secure resources

Drive implementation and monitoring of pilot projects

Establish integration into site capacity calculations and demand planning

Operational planning (OP) and 3-year Planning coordination (reviewing entitlement, capex and opex needs).

CLP Initiatives and Operational Integration:

lead integration of new programs

Support Carts Injections programs

Support Network planning pilots

Partner with engineering teams a to identify and resolve optimization constraints

Conduct comprehensive site assessments through facility visits (~15% Travel) and operational analysis

Program Governance:

Establish and map existing and new processes.

Develop and implement systems to monitor program progress and risks

Drive network-wide standardization and benchmarking

Track and report key performance metrics and improvement targets

Ensure consistent program delivery across miles

Stakeholder Management:

Align multiple teams (Engineering, Design, Operations) on planning and implementation targets

Work closely with operations teams to understand local constraints

Coordinate program goal completion with cross-functional teams/orgs, across management levels

Provide actionable insights to operational planning teams

A day in the life

As a program manager, you will need continuous alignment and understanding of the network long term demands, available engineering solutions, financial assessments and comparison between different potential solutions. The PM develops and implements the roadmap of the program and not only coordinates, but understands and provides guidance to teams. The PM has high ownership and sets the pace of the program. They provide directive actions on where to focus as it they have the long term and bigger picture as a goal. When needed the PM will actively direct teams during execution, manage escalations, approvals and dive deep into financial, network demand, procurement, operations, engineering or real estate topics to deliver results.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, operations, logistics, or related field.

Experience in logistics operations, capacity management or supply chain.

Experience in managing, implementing and delivering cross functional initiatives across teams and organizations.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and present data-driven insights to various audiences

Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

Excellent multitasking abilities with a history of managing concurrent projects effectively

Proven experience delivering results under tight deadlines

Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership.

Proficiency in Program/Project/change Management implementation and reporting mechanisms/tools (Excel, Project, MS software).

English proficiency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree/MBA in business, operations, logistics, supply chain, or related field

Experience in management within the Transport, Distribution or Logistics industry would be highly desirable

PMP or other project management certification

Proficiency with MS Project

SQL knowledge for query creation and data handling

French, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
