The purpose of this position is to provide supervision and oversight of quality performance on a single project of modest complexity or a portion of a more complex project including one or more self-perform work disciplines, subcontracts, and vendors. Responsible for verification of conformance with Austin Quality Management System and customer specifications. This position requires maintaining a good working relationship with customer representatives, engineers, vendors, subcontractors and project management personnel. This position reports to the Director of Quality.

QA/QC Tech

  • Inspect all fabrication work in progress, including work that is from outside vendors, and ensure the uniformly high quality workmanship is maintained during each phase of fabrication.
  • Document non-conformances promptly with responsible parties and follow up to ensure that deficiencies are resolved.
  • Prepare internal and customer required weekly and monthly quality reports.
  • Act as liaison with customer, regulatory agencies, subcontractors and/or internal departments on quality related matters.
  • Create and maintain all required documentation: weld logs, ITP’s, turnover packages, etc.
  • Implements quality training programs to project personnel in conjunction with Project Managers and Superintendents.

Planning:

  • Review contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schematics to determine the nature and scope of the project, the materials and equipment to be utilized, and develop the “Job Instruction Sheet” and/or Inspection Test Plans.
  • Develop or review required submittals such as weld procedures, NDE procedures, etc. to ensure conformance with specifications and required customer approvals.

Cost Performance:

  • Eliminate rework through a timely and robust inspection process

Scheduling:

  • Coordinate inspections and quality resource requirements with the construction plan and schedule.
  • Manage scheduling of all quality inspections necessary to obtain customer acceptance of the work.

Relationships:

  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with field supervision, customer representatives, engineers, consulting firms, and other parties. Attempts to resolve problems at the lowest practical level through direct negotiations with concerned individuals.
  • Provide administrative and technical direction to all quality personnel in the fab shop including personnel administration and resolution of technical problems.

Minimum of 8 years of Quality Control experience in the industrial industry

Licenses & Certifications

Required

Valid Driver's License
