Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector has an opening for a Staff Engineer Software to join our Global Surveillance Division supporting the team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Melbourne, Florida.
This position, Staff Engineer Software (Embedded Software Assurance Architect) is a lead role focused on securing embedded software infrastructure, operating systems hardening and network security as an embedded software assurance architect lead.
Responsibilities include containerization and securing of applications using podman, Operating System hardening with SELinux and network security with CIPSO and SecMark. The role requires deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the systems and software infrastructure for rapid deployment and maintainability of the infrastructure. This software role requires you to have hands-on technical experience with Kubernetes orchestration using HELM charts, podman virtualization of applications, environment automation using NetBoot and ansible configuration management, and continuous improvements.
The selected candidate will participate in the full software development life cycle, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. The selected candidate will apply low level electrical engineering technical expertise with the modern agile software engineering concepts to solve complex embedded integrations problems. Solid experience in OS configuration and file system overlays, shell scripting, C/C++, Rust, Yocto/Bitbake is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance and Special Program Access is required.
The selected individual will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of the program’s deployment strategy and network architecture.

Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
